Maxwell
Park Gardens Tour
~ Sunday,
May 15, 2005 ~ Hello Maxwell Park Garden Enthusiasts.
We’ll look at a variety of gardens - native plants,
veggies, drought tolerant, gardens that include interesting
art, gardens that survive in difficult locations, animal
habitat gardens, gardens in progress, small gardens,
large gardens, front gardens and backyard gardens. They’ll
reflect the diversity and character of our neighborhood,
and they don't have to be "perfect" gardens.

Recap
and Pictures:
"It
was a gorgeous day for Maxwell Park Garden tour on
May 15th. All afternoon people meandered from one
beautiful garden to the next. The best part was meeting
new neighbors. Some moved here two weeks ago; a new
neighbor has been here just a year and thought the
garden tour was a great way to get ideas for her backyard
upgrade. Many have been here 5 and 7 years and got
ideas about different plants that grow well in Maxwell
Park. Then there's Nida, who has been here 20 years,
and lives just around the corner. We are going to
share plants and have morning coffee in the swing
while we watch the hummingbirds bathe in the fountain.
I have been here 35 years and raised all four boys
on Knowland Avenue. It was festive and fun and next
year we want to end with a BBQ in someone's yard.
One neighbor, a professional singer, sang a stanza
A Cappella, and I am sure would have sung more if
there were a guitar. We talked about how many musicians
we have in Maxwell Park. Next year, at the BBQ, we
will have live music from locals. I might even dig
my accordion out of the back of my closet!"
