Central East Oakland & East Oakland is served by Police Area III. Area III encompasses the remaining portion of the city from High Street to the San Leandro border - otherwise known as East Oakland. Area Three has two Police Service Areas (PSA). If you live between High Street and 82nd Avenue you are in PSA Five. Those residing from 82nd Avenue to the San Leandro border are in PSA Six.

PSA Five has seven Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils (NCPC): Coliseum-Lockwood-Melrose, Melrose High Hopes, Rainbow Community, Maxwell Park (28X), Burbank Millsbrae (29X), 30X and 30Y. Most of Millsmont falls under Beat 29X (with some falling in Beat 30Y or Beat 25Y).
