Update on MacArthur Motels and 7-11

In response to rising concerns over increased criminal activities at local hotels and motels along MacArthur Boulevard, neighbors in OPD beat 25X have taken proactive steps to address the issue. Collaborating with the Neighborhood Law Corps, several individuals successfully petitioned the City of Oakland to investigate crime and nuisance incidents at specific locations.

The investigation focuses on four commercial properties along MacArthur Boulevard:

  • Sage Motel (4844 MacArthur Blvd)

  • Holiday Motel (4474 MacArthur Blvd)

  • Laurel Inn (4550 MacArthur Blvd)

  • 7-11 Market (4720 MacArthur Blvd)

The Neighborhood Law Corps, led by City of Oakland attorney Martha Cardenas Delgadillo, is undertaking the following actions:

  • Collecting and analyzing records associated with all four properties.

  • Sending formal letters to property owners identified as sources of crime and/or nuisance.

  • Considering legal action, including lawsuits, against property owners if necessary.
