Campus Access Policy
Northeastern is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for the university community, visitors, and guests, as well as to safeguarding university assets, including property. Learn more.
The Oakland campus is open to the public during standard business hours (5:00am – 8:00pm)
All vehicle operators and pedestrians entering campus must present a Northeastern identification card or government issued identification document to a gate officer
Acceptable government identification is defined as: state or provincial Driver’s License or Identification Card, Passport or Passport Card, Military ID card, or Permanent Resident Card. College or university-issued photo identification may also be used
Recreation
Trefethen Pool: The Trefethen Aquatic Center includes a 10-lane outdoor swimming pool with open hours for lap swim, club swim, fitness classes, and water polo.
Hours and Programming (Microsoft account required.)
Tennis/Pickleball: The Meyer Tennis Center features six lighted courts, including two courts with pickleball lines. Courts are available for private use or event rentals with advance reservations. All courts are open from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm.
Dog walkers: Northeastern University (‘Northeastern’ or the ‘university’) regulates animals on university property to promote community health and safety and university operations.
Pine Top Trail: The Pine Top trail is a 2.5 mile loop within campus. It follows the perimeter of the property and weaves along the farm, through the Eucalyptus groves, past the cemetery and around some of the historic architecture on the campus.
Community Farm: The Community Farm is 2.5 acres of organic urban agriculture with an emphasis on sustainability, education, and local partnerships. Their CSA Program will be starting back up on June 5th! Subscribe on a monthly basis or for the entire summer to receive a weekly box of fresh farm vegetables, fruit, herbs, and a beautiful flower bouquet.
Arts & Culture
Mills College Art Museum: Named one of the top 50 best college art museums in the country, the museum hosts contemporary exhibitions and noted speakers throughout the year.
Mills Performing Arts: Mills Performing Arts encompasses boundary-breaking work by faculty, students, and visiting artists in dance, music, theater, and literature and languages. Our variety of events and exhibitions promotes cultural equity, inclusive excellence, and gender and racial justice while strengthening ties to the San Francisco Bay Area. Our community’s artistic offerings are held in different venues throughout campus. Explore upcoming events.
F.W. Olin Library: This light-filled library is the campus’s intellectual heart of scholarship and research, best known for collections in literature, history, women’s studies, art, and music.
Mills Chapel & Labyrinth: Designed by Callister and Payne and completed in 1967, the chapel is built in the round, with curved redwood pews, a slightly raised central altar, and a beautiful pipe organ. A labyrinth is located next to the Chapel and is available for walking as a way to quiet the mind, find balance and healing, and encourage prayer, meditation, insight, community, and celebration.
Dining
Ther campus dining options feature local ingredients, authentic flavors, and farm-fresh produce (including some harvested from the campus community farm.) Find what's open, what's on the menu, nutritional information and more.
Founders Commons: Enjoy a variety of rotating menu items including vegan and vegetarian options, a fresh salad bar, and traditional student favorites.
Café Suzie: Grab-and-go snacks and beverages, grocery items, and school pride merchandise.
Tea Shop: A café market-style experience with a coffee bar, made-to-order deli, and a changing selection of hot entrées available through in-person ordering or mobile ordering through the Grubhub app.
