Make Music Day

Make Music Oakland is a live, free musical celebration on Friday, June 21, the longest day of the year. This is Oakland’s first year being part of the international Make Music Day; the focus is on The Laurel District as part of the Live in The Laurel music series.

"Arts access for all is a core element of any community so Friday, June 21 is perfect timing with the Live in the Laurel series to add the Make Music Day component. With Oakland's wonderful and diverse music scene and so many talented artists residing here, I know it could be a really special day. Nothing brings the community together like music does and this day's emphasis is simply celebrating that." says organizer, Danny Tomasello.

Every kind of musician is invited — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion shares their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public, from 3-6 p.m. at Communitē Table (4171 MacArthur Blvd.). Entries are being accepted from interested musicians – and venues – to make music and host musicians. If you don’t want to register as a musician to perform, but would like to make music at the event, check out the Listings section as the date nears for where you can join the fun.
